Rosalie Anna McDonough, 98, affectionately known as 'Granmaw' by all that knew her, went home to be with Jesus her Lord and Saviour, on June 6, 2012. Rosalie died peaceable at her home in Hartwood, Virginia.
Rosalie was born April 30, 1914, to the late Nathaniel Jackson and Elizabeth Rebecca Beach in Peonia Springs, Va. She was raised in a strong Christian home and gave her heart to Jesus at the early age of 19; she continued to serve Him for the duration of her long life.
At the age of 16, she met, fell in love with, and married John L. McDonough of Leesburg, Va., who was to become a World War II veteran and then later, the founding pastor of Charity Church of God in Stafford County, Va. Rosalie was a devoted wife to her husband of 74 years prior to his death in 2004, at the age of 93.
Her strong faith in God was continually demonstrated by her living testimony and constant prayer supplications for her family, her friends and anyone in need. Her prayers always included "food for the hungry little children". She was a Prayer Warrior....the 'go to' person in time of trouble.
Rosalie is survived by four children; Gail Walker of Hartwood; Carollee Lynham and her husband, Jack, of Fredericksburg;Phyllis Ford and her husband, Ronnie, of Hartwood; Darrell McDonough and his wife, Joy, of Calabash, N. C.
Rosalie is also survived by her three brothers; Gibson Beach and his wife, Ida of Salisbury, N. C.; Nathaniel J. Beach, Jr., of Sylvan Springs, AL; William R. Beach and his wife, Virginia of Fredericksburg; also, three sisters; Virginia Belle Tippins, of Bulls Gap, TN; Marie Donahay of Lakeland, FL.; Peggy Ann Miller of Plantation, FL.
Survivors also include six grandchildren; Timothy Walker, Cheryl Ann Yocum, Ronnie Ford, Jr., Marci MacGregor; Joshua McDonough
and Jennifer Conte. As well as twelve great-grandchildren; Brandi Rhody, Brett Walker, Ian Walker, Jason Yocum, Mellissa
Drobak, Joseph Yocum, Jennifer Meadows, Gage Ford, Ashley MacGregor, Kaleigh MacGregor, Chase Conte and Cole Conte. Also, nine great-great grandchildren; Mikala Rhody, Mason Rhody, Tristian Walker, Brian Smiley, Aidan Preston-Seiv, Keegan Yocum, Haley Heflin, Taylor Meadows and Drayden Ford.
Rosalie was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Jean (Patsy), who died of pneumonia in 1936; two brothers; Edgar Jackson and Robert Lee; also, two grandchildren; Deborah Buzard and John Walker.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 12:00 P. M. at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, Va., Brother Raymond Martin, pastor of Mount Pleasant Church of God in Christiansburg, Va., will be the officiating minister. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow the service at the Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 U. S. Avenue, Culpeper, Va. Rosalie's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
