Melvin Spicer, 90, of Richmond, Virginia, joined his loving wife of 60 years, Lora Hossley in God’s House on April 6, 2019. Born in Washington D.C. and raised in Culpeper, Virginia, Melvin was an alumni graduate of the University of Richmond. He served our country in the Korean War as a Marine and Chaplin’s Assistant. Upon returning from Korea, Melvin married, started a family, began a career, and served Oakland and Goochland Baptist churches in Virginia as an interim pastor. Melvin retired from the Virginia State Tax Department and spent his retirement committed to his family and our Lord and Savior, gardening, traveling and assisting those that called upon him at MCV, St. Mary’s and the surrounding nursing homes. Melvin is survived by his children; Konrad Spicer (Kim), Sherry Pillow (Chris), and grandchildren; Cabell Spicer, Stewart Pillow (Christopher), Mackenzie Spicer Georges (Nick) and Samuel Pillow (Jessica).

A memorial service will be held at Rhoadesville Baptist Church, 26042 Lafayette Dr., Rhoadesville, Virginia 22542 at 1:00 PM, May 31, 2019, with Robert E. Thompson, Minister of Pastoral Care, First Baptist Church - Monument Ave. Richmond, Virginia presiding. A reception will follow at the conclusion of the service.
