Marilyn Lucero of Lake of the Woods, Va., passed away on December 20, 2018. She is survived by her two sons, Luciano (and his wife Carol) of Alexandria, and Andre (and his wife Erin) of Goochland, as well as her sister, Phyllis Wichman (and her husband, Dave) of Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Merle McCaulely. Born on June 9, 1941, and raised in Council Bluffs, Marilyn lived in Springfield, Va., for 28 years before moving to Lake of the Woods. For more than 20 years, she served in the federal government with the National Guard Bureau, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Defense Logistics Agency. Traveling America and the world for her work and enjoyment, she often brought home mementos from her travels. She loved to create things, whether it was a delicious dinner for loved ones, a beautiful garden, an arrangement of her award-winning irises or porcelain figures and intricate costumes in her longtime hobby of doll-making. A dancer since childhood, she continued into retirement and also enjoyed playing cards with the Fun Bunch and celebrating holidays with family.
