Joseph David Bazey died Monday, November 26, 2018 in Mine Run, Virginia. Joe was born April 17, 1931 in Warsaw, North Dakota to Joseph and Mae (Clark) Bazey.
Joe served in the US Army, 3rd Old Guard, in Washington, D.C. and in the 7th Cavalry Division in the Korean War. He worked as a Brakeman for Washington Terminal and Penn Railroad for seventeen years, and worked as an Irrigation Superintendent for over thirty years.
Joe was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg, VA. He was a member of Mount Herman Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Almas Shriners Temple, and was an original member of the Fredericksburg Model R/C Club.
Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley (Orndorff) Bazey; his two children, Karen Merten (John) of Berryville, VA and Larry Bazey (Rhonda) of Huntingtown, Maryland; as well as his five grandchildren, Justin, Joey, Josh, Cori, and Alli; and his three great-grandchildren, Emma, Wyatt, and Grady. He is also survived by his brothers Leonard, John, Ernest, and Richard Bazey, and by his sisters Shirley LaMere and Marie Bazey.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Johanna Peterson and Elaine Ostenson, and his brother George Bazey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Hope Presbyterian Church located at 11121 Leavells Road Fredericksburg, VA 22407. A reception will follow the service. Interment will then follow at 2:00 pm at Quantico National Cemetery.
