Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise. Luke 23:43
As of February 21, 2019, the life of John Ernest Mason is over, and as promised, he is with his Lord.
John, son of Granville S. and Mary Moore Mason of Locust Grove, Va., was born April 9, 1934. He graduated from Spotsylvania High School in 1952, then served a four year apprenticeship at the Naval Gun Factory, which prepared him for his career at The National Institutes of Health (NIH). There, he supervised the instrument shop where state of the art medical devices were conceived, designed and built. John married the love of his life Shelva Mills Mason of Kegley, W.Va. in 1956. They were blessed with God’s greatest gifts, Drucilla Mason Gray (William), Brenda Mason Webb (Greg), Michael R. Mason (Bobbi) and Kenneth T. Mason (Christine). Adding to their blessings are five grandchildren Keri, John, Chelsea, Rachel and Christopher, and four great grandchildren.
John and Shelva’s favorite saying throughout their 63 year marriage is, “If you have the faith and love of Jesus anything is possible.” John loved his wife, his family, his sports, all of his friends in the Fawn Lake Community, and his spiritual family at Wilderness Community Church. John was an honorable man that was well respected, and we are proud to know that his presence on this earth will have a lasting positive influence on the many lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Wilderness Community Church, Spotsylvania, Va., with the Rev. K. Denise Walton officiating.
