Jean Brumsey Biscoe, 90, widow of John W. Biscoe, Jr died on Thursday, July 19, 2018. She is survived by son, John W. Biscoe, III, daughter, Julie B. Jones (Mike) grandchildren, Christian Jones of Charlotte, NC, Kaitlyn Jones and Cameron Jones. She is also survived by siblings, William Brumsey, III and Ginger B. Robinson both of Currituck, NC and numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother Geraldine T. Brumsey and her sister Lucile B. Morgan.
She attended Thomas Jefferson High School ’44, Westhampton College of The University of Richmond ’48, and Richmond Professional Institute (now VCU) Graduate School of Social Work ‘51. She retired from the Department of Corrections in 1990. Mrs. Biscoe enjoyed outdoor activities, social time with friends (gin martinis), quiet time in Mathews, VA, volunteering for various organizations, participating in her treasured bridge club for over 6 decades, serving on several boards of The U of R Alumnae Affairs, and was a former member of the vestry at St. Matthews Episcopal Church. She held family and friends dear, making everyone feel beloved and special.
A memorial service will be held on Friday August 17, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Matthews Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends following the service at a celebration of life to be held in the social hall. A private burial will be held in the church cemetery at Antioch Baptist Church, Mine Run, VA. Contributions may be made to Westhampton College of The University of Richmond or St. Matthews Episcopal Church.
