Diane “Joan” Bealby, age 82, passed away on October 29, 2019 at her home in Locust Grove, Virginia with her family by her side. She was born on March 29, 1937, in Woodston, Kansas. She married Ron Bealby on October 8, 1955 in the chapel at Fort Belvoir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron. Together, they raised their family in Falls Church, Virginia. She is survived by her three children, Mark Bealby (Debbie) of Falls Church, Don Bealby of Locust Grove and Sue Floyd of Gainesville.
After raising her family, Joan became a pre-school teacher and taught for 17 years. In 1983, she and Ron built their dream home at Lake of the Woods in Locust Grove, Virginia. Joan loved living at Lake of the Woods. As a resident, she was involved in the Lake of the Woods Church, Small Group, the Book Club, Women’s Guild and the Stevens Ministry. She loved spending time with family and friends as well as birdwatching and reading while sitting on her front deck.
Besides her three children, Joan is survived by seven grandchildren, Linda Hatcher (Jeff), Steven Bealby (Maren), Derek Bealby (Lauren), Deanna Bealby, Dustin Bealby (Nicole), Taylor Heaton and Kyli Floyd. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Alex and JD Hatcher, Emma and Abby Bealby and Ada Bealby.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Lake of the Woods Church, Locust Grove. Reverend Mike LeMay will officiate. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will take place at 2 p.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper. Mom is gone and will certainly be missed but the love for her will continue forever.
