Barbara Ann Scott, 76, of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, VA, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with her family at her side on Sunday, November 29 in Culpeper Regional Hospital, Culpeper, VA.
Born in New York City on February 13, 1933, Barbara became a dedicated housewife successfully raising five children in Alexandria, VA. Upon her husband's retirement from the government she moved to one of her favorite places, Jekyll Island, GA for 10 years where she could walk the beaches and practice her crafts and handiwork. In recent years the Scotts moved back to Virginia, settling in Lake of the Woods, to be closer to family and enjoy an active community.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Haag; five children, Susan Weiford and her husband Doug, Harry Scott and his wife Cathy, Matthew Scott and his wife Jean, Debbie Rubino and her husband Chris and Beth Shealy and her husband Bryan; seven grandchildren; three great-grandsons; her sister Joan Cuomo; nephew Joseph Cuomo and his wife Heather and great-niece; and niece Michelle Kerrigan and her husband Bob.
Barbara is best remembered for her faith and considered healthy eating her ministry believing in "Jehovah God's Healing Diet" (Genesis 1:29). She enjoyed all of nature and found great peace in sunrise walks on the beach. She enjoyed traveling around the States and overseas, particularly her visit to Israel. Barbara loved her family and found great joy in visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was eagerly looking forward to the birth of another great-grandson in the Spring.
A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, December 5 at 11:00 at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, VA, with Rev. Robert Regan officiating.
